Jun 13, 2025Micro-satellite CE-SAT-I Ends Its Operation

Canon Electronics Inc. hereby announces that CE-SAT-I, the first microsatellite, developed and manufactured in-house by Canon Electronics, ended its operation, due to orbital decay and atmospheric reentry on May 17.
On June 23, 2017, CE-SAT-I was launched by ISRO’s*1 PSLV-C38 rocket. This marked the first successful launch of a self-funded satellite by a private company in Japan’s history. Over the next eight years, we have achieved many results, including in-orbit verification of satellite design, accumulation of knowledge on ground station development*2 and satellite operation, and analysis technology of satellite telemetry data*3, as well as imaging of the Earth and celestial bodies.
We would like to express our deep gratitude once again to all the related organizations and individuals for their cooperation and support to the development and operation of
CE-SAT-I. Achievements we have accumulated so far, will be utilized in the future development and operation of satellites.
