Sep 10, 2026Micro-satellite CE-SAT-IIB Terminates Its Operation

Canon Electronics Inc. hereby announces that CE-SAT-IIB, developed and manufactured by Canon Electronics, terminated its operation, due to orbital decay and atmospheric reentry on July 14.
On October 29, 2020, CE-SAT-IIB was launched by Rocket Lab’s Electron rocket and was placed into orbit at an altitude of 500 km. CE-SAT-IIB has the capability of capturing at night using its developed ultra-high-sensitivity camera, over about 6 years, it has observed various aspects of the Earth regardless of the day and night. Additionally, Canon’s mirrorless EOS M100 camera has achieved many results, including capturing not only the Earth but also celestial bodies.
We would like to express our deep gratitude for cooperation and support to the development and operation of CE-SAT-IIB. Achievements we have accumulated so far, will be utilized in the future development and operation of satellites.
